How to Determine If Your Boyfriend Will Become a Good Husband

Your boyfriend is funny, works hard, and shares your love of hiking and kayaking. Your parents like him, and your friends are envious when you tell them about the thoughtful little gifts he gives you for no reason at all. But what about that temper when someone pulls out in front of him, or his careless spending habits? Is he getting ready to pop the question? If you think he is ready to move your relationship to the next level, ask yourself the following questions. Think about the answers as you try to determine whether your boyfriend will be a good husband.
Is he understanding and patient when you are upset?

If you plan to share your life with someone, you should be confident he will be supportive, and willing to see you through life’s ups and downs, even when you are not at your best. A good husband will hold you when you cry, encourage you when you’re scared, cheer you on when you’re reaching for your goals, and love you in spite of yourself when you’re angry.
Is he willing to work hard to achieve your mutual financial goals?

Be sure you know what your boyfriend’s thoughts are about money as you make plans for the future. Even the strongest relationships can be shattered when both people are not in agreement about how money should be spent. Does your boyfriend spend money frivolously? Does he overdraw his checking account? Is he stingy with money, or controlling when you want to make a purchase? These issues can evolve into serious problems when money is combined after the wedding. Talk about money before you walk down the aisle. It can be a source of constant frustration if you don’t.
Do you love spending time with him?

This is probably the most important question of all. A marriage can be challenging, stressful, joyful and frustrating; all on the same day! If you dream of spending a lifetime with him, laughing together, working together, loafing on weekends in your pajamas, going on vacations, remodeling the house, raising kids, and sharing hopes, dreams, and the triumphs and tragedies of life, then marry him!
