One of the best things about having an e-reader is that there is a large number of free e-books available to read. Though programs like Amazon.com make it easy to find free kindle books, the e-books for a nook may appear to be trickier to find. Not so. With a little know-how, you can find a large number of sources of books that can be read by your nook. Many of the sites are for most e-reader formats, and require knowledge of the correct format for your nook. Both pdf and epub work in a nook, so as long as you download in one of the two formats, you should find it translates well. Here is a list of some of the top sites where you can find them:
Barnes and Noble: If you head over to Barnesandnoble.com, you need only type “free nook books” into their upper search bar to discover a large library of books that are free for the taking. They are even divided into genre for you, so you can choose from your favorite mysteries, action and adventure, romance, sci-fi, fantasy and more. In addition to free full-length books, this section also often carries free previews of different bestselling author’s new books, such as an excerpt from the first chapter, for free.
Project Gutenburg:

This includes a number of classic kids stories like Peter Pan, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Black Beauty.
Smashword:
